It's March... It's Still Snowing

It is the 2nd day of March... and I woke up to snow!! I am so tired of it! Since it is so cold and gloomy outside I tried my best to take advantage and so somethings around the house! I stitched up some clothes, laundry, little things that I haven't gotten around to before running errands! Since there isn't too much going on I thought I would share a little cleaning tip!!! Now that Valentine's Day is over and for me, sadly my Birthday is too I was throwing out all my beautiful (dead) flowers this morning and cleaning up the vases. I don't know about you but my vases always look like they are 100 YEARS OLD after just a week or two with flowers in them. So after A LOT of sad research a couple of years ago I learned an awesome trick to cleaning them! DENTURE CLEANER!!! It is kind of embarrassing to be buying denture cleaning tablets, but the good news is one box lasts FOREVER! I even gave half of mine to a friend and still have plenty! You just fill the vase with VERY hot water and drop in one tablet, I usually let it sit for 3 or 4 hours then rinse it out and dry it! Your vase will look as good as new! I like fill mine with new flowers and give them away for Mother's Day or to friends who are sick or having babies etc... This one will be perfect for a friends Birthday!

This is what my vase looked like after taking the flowers out and rinsing it with just hot water

This is with the denture tablet in it

And after.... ready to be filled with flowers again!

Fire House Subs

Ok, if you ever had a Fire House Sub, you are really missing out! It it by far the best sub I have ever eaten! Everytime I go to Alabama it is a must to stop at Fire House! Don't get me wrong, I like Fire House a lot, but my friend Michael takes it to another level. Here is what he wrote...

"After a 2 ½ year wait, a dream was finally realized Thursday - Firehouse Subs (FHS) has a store in Nashville! Ok, so it’s been open a month (unbeknownst to me) and not really in Nashville, it’s in Smyrna, but that’s a lot closer than the nearest one after that (FYI – Chattanooga).
I have been asked many times “why the obsession with FHS?” Simply put – they are the best subs. Bar none.
The obsession started in fall 2007. I was working in Huntsville, AL, and the client catered in FHS. I was hooked (and laddered) from the start. I had never heard of FHS and it was unlike anything I had ever tasted in a sub. What started out as a small fire soon became an inferno – I could not eat enough of FHS. On my return home, I told my wife & friends about the slice of heaven I had eaten. But words can never describe ecstasy.
Of course, every trip back to Huntsville included a trip to FHS. But that wasn’t enough. Soon, every trip out of town included a Google search for the nearest FHS. I was eating them in Columbia, SC, Knoxville, TN, Charleston, SC, and Birmingham, AL. When I found one in Chattanooga, TN – I was beside myself. Our often-traveled path to Atlanta now included a detour.
The legend of FHS with friends and family grew with every story. FHS should have put me on the payroll I touted them so much. I looked into opening a franchise in Nashville but did not meet the requirements. FHS kept telling me to be patient – one is opening in Nashville.
So when FHS finally told me about their Smyrna locale – I was thrilled beyond words. I called all my friends, skipped from my office to the car, and obsessed about it all the way home. I gathered up a crew and we grabbed our first Hook and Ladder of many. And it was worth the wait!" -Michael V

Valentine's Day/ My Birthday

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! This is our front door! I go kinda nuts over the holidays at my house! (Maybe I have too much time on my hands!) This is the last year until 2014 that my birthday falls on the weekend (that means Matt is at least in the same zip code as me) So we had to CELEBRATE!! One of my very best friends, Elizabeth and her fiance Allan came in town Friday from Birmingham, we went to dinner Friday night and had a blast!! Saturday, Matt had to work so Liz, Allan and I had a HUGE breakfast, lunch and then spent the entire day shopping!! Matt and I go to the Palm on my birthday every year and this year was even more special because Liz and Allan came too! We had so much fun at dinner, then met up with more friends and celebrated all night!! Times like those remind me how blessed and lucky I am to have to best friends in the world! Matt had to fly out on Sunday, my actual birthday, so I had a wonderful relaxing day with my mom, dad, and Chandler! My friends and family made my day so special, they showered me with more gifts, flowers, and love than I could ever ask for! I love love love them!!!

Kerry, and Elizabeth... Kerry surprised me at midnight with my birthday gift!!! (which I LOVE!!)

Matt, Kerry, and Elizabeth were dance machines!! They were the entertainment for the night!!

Mom, Dad, Chandler and myself after lunch on my Birthday!

All of our sweet Valentine/ Birthday cards from sweet, sweet friends and family!

Our Valentine dinning room table!

Ok, here is my little retail plug! PANDORA! I never, ever, ever thought I would get into something like this, it is not me at all! My mom wanted a Pandora bracelet for her birthday back in December, Dave and I went and picked out the bracelet and charms... the whole 9-yards! I later found out my mother-in-law had one, along with a few of my friends. I went to Pear Tree Avenue (one of my favorite spots!) to check everything out and became OBSESSED! They are pretty much modern charm bracelets, they are all sterling sliver/ 14k gold and the charms just right on! My mom and mother-in-law started me one for Christmas and of course now I have 12 charms and counting! This year Matt got me some rings that are Pandora also, they are ADORABLE! I would sugest anyone check this out! I wear mine with a little diamond bracelet and my watch, I think its a little more trendy that way! (www.pandora-jewelry.com)

Let It Snow

This snow icon has been a staple in the weather forecast in 2010! SNOW, SNOW, SNOW! I thought we were living in Nashville, not Denver! The last time I remember weather like this, I was in second grade and snow/ice storms kept going through North Alabama. It feels like there has been snow on the ground for 2 months! Don't get me wrong, I like the snow and think its pretty and all, but I do NOT like being snowed in by myself! Also, if its going to snow I want the entire ground to be covered... not just spots! (OCD much!) Anyway here are some pictures from all our snow adventures!!

Sweet little Maisy wasn't too sure how to handle the snow! She is just so adorable I could eat her up!!

Matt and I outside out house sledding with the neighbors, Nick, Natalie, Matt and Monica!

Matt and Matt Moman decided to gear up and ski/snowboard down our street! The whole neighborhood was entertained all day! I sent the pictures into channel 4 news but we never watched to see if they made the cut!

I bought these Sperry's Cormorant Rubber Slip on shoes a couple of weeks ago intended for spring rain... but to my surprise I can't take them off! With all the snow/ melted snow these super versatile shoes have been my go-to! They are completely rubber on the outside with extra supportive souls! I would HIGHLY recommend them as a rain boot alternative! $80 www.sperrytopsider.com

Wishin' and Hopin' and Thinkin' and Prayin' for SUMMER!

Summer can not get here fast enough! It has been snowing on and off in Nashville all year! The closer we get to April 15th (last day of tax season) the more we finalize summer plans! I am getting so anxious for above freezing temperatures!!! I have been doing some on line summer shopping! Here are a few things I am OBSESSED with!

These Tory Burch wedges are to DIE for! The wedge is great with dresses or shorts and the orange color adds style to any outfit! www.toryburch.com

I got this SUPER CUTE Besty Johnson watch for my Birthday and I have not taken it off!! It adds something to a slouchy v-neck and rugged jeans! I am in love with the heart second hand!

I can't get over this dress, it's from Victorias Secret and you better order fast because at $58 it is already back-ordered! It is so cute and feminine! This dress is at the top of my list for Steeplechase 2010!!

Blogging

I have always had mixed feelings about blogging! Today I decided to change that. With my best friend Allyson in Japan and Matt traveling on business all the time, I have a little extra time on my hands... so here goes nothing!
